Poverty

This may be a blog about clubpenguin, but i do believe we may address some real-world issues. Now i know a few of you know im a political extremist but honestly this logic should be applied to all people around the world.

These sayings came from a woman (now a saint) named Maria Esperanza: “If you cannot donate 100 fish, donate 1.” And, “If you give a man a fish you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.” I have followed this sayings throughout my life and know that one person can make a huge difference.

Three years ago, my mom and i drove twenty minutes to crime capital of the U.S.A. found an old abandoned church and went to work. Three hours later, (with a few hundred dead rats) we had the base to a soup kitchen. We got a few volunteers to help out and cook some home meals and our first day of service we served thirteen people. Three years later, we have food coming from all sorts or organizations hundreds of volunteers and serve about 200 people daily. I cannot come is as much because of school starting and all, but the program is great. We’ve gotten lives back together, we’ve helped hundreds of people to keep moving forward in their lives.

The greatest experience i ever had their was christmas-time. Everyone was on vacation so it was me and my older brother in charge. My bro ran the food and i was in charge of giving out the presents. Now i had gone door to door asking for presents to donate and we got some cool stuff, but mostly little action figures and what not. Well, the line of kids waiting to get presents must have stretched a mile. And the look on every kids face when i gave them a gift was so incredible, i’ve never seen anything like it. And when every last present was given away there was still one kid left. He was crying. I had brought my Gameboy DS in-case i got bored, and seeing the kid cry, well i handed him the DS and the charger. When everything was over and i sat down to get lunch from my brother all of the kids broke into screaming, “Jake is awesome! Jake is awesome!” It was one of the most inspiring moments of my life. So please help a cause and donate to blog action day 08. I’m in, are you?

Doughnut861 🙂 (i might get some pics for you guys if the board approves of it)

    This post is really inspiring.
It was so nice of you helping those kids.
Especially when you gave one kid your Gameboy DS.

If I can find where to donate, I will.

  6. It means i go riding around on a bicycle with a cape that says vote obama and go around screaming his platform (the stuff he’ll do as president). Blog action day is when blogs come together to help out the poor by making posts and donating money, google it 😉

  24. Now this is off subject but guess what. Watex has to remove cheats, glitches, and secrets from his site or his penguin will be perma-banned. Now what if that happens to the rest of us???

    Comment by Fluffycatfan — August 25, 2008 @ 11:47 pm

  25. why? Whats wrong with cheats?

    Comment by Doughnut861 — August 26, 2008 @ 12:18 am

  26. You gave away your DS ? I never thought anyone would do that . But it is great 😉

Comment by ACP Petty Officer Miroos — August 26, 2008 @ 7:01 am

  27. hey dough to stop cp asking you to remove cheats just keep under the radar for a while. they e-mailed me saying delete my cheats so I did and I copied it and then I posted it back up when they were off me. just if they have not already e-mailed you just don’t advertise for a while. thats what keeping under the radar means. once they settle down again you would be able to advertise with no risk

    Comment by davyxaddy — August 26, 2008 @ 10:16 am

  31. O ya, what does Deja Vu mean? I heard of it, I just don’t get it,

    Comment by ed324 — August 26, 2008 @ 12:19 pm

  32. “Deja Vu” Is when your doing something and then suddenly you think that you’ve experienced that exact same thing before. It feels as though that same event has already happened or has happened in the past. It’s quite spooky!

    Comment by Bomber2 — August 26, 2008 @ 1:12 pm

  33. It’s also very hard to explain

    Comment by Bomber2 — August 26, 2008 @ 1:12 pm

  34. U say déjà vous when u feel something that just happened has happened before. Almost like a repeat. Happens to me alot for some reason…

    Comment by Doughnut861 — August 26, 2008 @ 1:49 pm

    Comment by Bomber2 — August 26, 2008 @ 2:39 pm

  38. Well, that’s probably one of the most nicest things i’ve heard. Although, i’m no go giver giving away my stuff. I would never ever give my DS away. Well, it just goes to show what some ppl are like. But I am no go giver as I said. Yaa, I feel sorry for the poor kids, but not THAT sorry. I might give them a few £ but for you to do that, it’s just so nice, yaa, well done!
